There is a long tradition in economics in the study of institutions and their effects of market outcomes such as prices and productivity. This is also the central theme of a large empirical literature. This projects aims at investigating key policy issues in this area, for example the effect of occupational regulation on wages and worker mobility, or the effects of new policies targeted at reducing recidivism or the negative consequences of criminal activity.
